The Vision

In 2023, landscape architects Urban Wilderness were commissioned on behalf of Leeds Civic Trust to create a vision document for Leeds Eastside. The Vision for a ‘Liveable’ Eastside builds on the ideas and design principles set out in the Liveable Leeds competition entries and the Eastside SPD. Download the Vision below.

 

What is the Vision?

“Leeds Eastside aims to become an attractive, lively and inclusive space within the heart of the city centre” (Leeds Civic Trust Draft SPD)

Key Elements

  1. Incorporate a rich mix of uses and facilities which celebrate existing heritage, culture and diversity

  2. A network of high quality green space

  3. Foster community ownership, a sense of pride and place

  4. Centre around the daylighted Sheepscar watercourse

  5. Improve pedestrian connectivity and sustainable transport
